What is Define Live-Work?

The title of last week's Beer Drag Opera event intrigued many people enough to stop by the new Solea condo building to find what the heck was going on. Curious visitors were greeted with kegs of beer, Shiqueeta Lee decked out as Tina Turner, and DJ Anish spinning operatic mashups. All of this in a cool live-work space that was decked out with large, beautiful canvases created by DECOY, Peter Krsko, Cory Oberndorfer, and Quest Skinner.

But what was this really all about!? Most of you know me as the art girl and it's true that I love all things arty with a passion. But what's even more important to me is creative living and thinking in everything we do, and art is only one of many vehicles for this kind of approach to life. That's why I have teamed up with Neil Takemoto who founded CoolTown Studios and Brian Corrigan who is a design thinking guru and creative genius to form Mobfuse. We conceptualized and produced Define Live-Work, which includes all these nifty events, to showcase the Solea live-work community.

You'll have another chance to see the space on Tuesday when we bring you Carnival Games and Sno-Cones. We hope that playing games will inspire you to give us more ideas! Music by DJ Gold (The Fridge DC) too!


Everyone will get to vote on what they think is the best idea and the winning idea will get staged in the space by fabulous designer Fabian Bernal. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE WEEK TO VOTE! July 24 through 31. We'll invite you back in mid-August when it's all done so you can see what the winning idea looks like in the space.
