McGraw and Tarantino are hard at work at Flashpoint

I stopped by Flashpoint yesterday to check out Kate McGraw's and Ann Tarantino's progress on the installation of their new piece called Workbook. Wow! This collaboration is absolutely stunning. I cannot wait for the opening on Thursday (March 19, 6 to 8 PM, @ 916 G Street NW).

After the exhibition ends on April 17, the walls will be painted back to white and readied for the next exhibition (Trevor Young!) and nothing will remain except for a video documenting this extraordinary art-making process. Please help support the making of this limited-edition video by purchasing a unique print created by these two sensational talents.

By purchasing unique prints, buyers have an opportunity to become art patrons who foster the careers of emerging artists.

Each 7 ½ x 7 ½ inch print will be hand-marked and embellished by Ann and Kate and hand-stamped with a signature seal created by the artists. Each unique piece will be printed on 300 gsm, 100% cotton Crane Museo Portfolio Rag paper.

Patrons who purchase prints by March 24, 2009 will be listed in the video. All patrons will be invited to a special launch event at the Gallery at Flashpoint on March 28, 2009, from 6-9 pm.

More information about the installation and purchasing a print at can be found at We Draw. Or purchase prints right away for $50 each through PayPal here: (Look in the sidebar for an example of how one of the prints will look.)

Daily Candy featured the project last Monday:
Want to star in the next Tarantino project? (Don’t worry: No ear-severing or other gratuitous violence involved.)

D.C. artists Ann Tarantino and Kate McGraw are collaborating on a project to help launch art collections and involve people in their new exhibition — and it features a role just for you.

The duo, backed by The Pink Line Project, launches a website today selling original prints of their colorful, dynamic work for $50 a pop. The money raised from each sale will go toward a video documenting their new installation, a physical performance piece around wall art with punk music and artist interaction.

Each patron will be recognized in the completed video and invited to the kick-off party.

It’s a new frontier for art house cinema.
