A person who appears to be ambling aimlessly, but is secretly in search of adventure.

Report from Art Basel Miami Beach 2008

Zach Houston was writing poems in the Aqua Hotel courtyard for anyone who would give him a word and a donation. Here's what he wrote for me:

the opposite of pink
is thinking as in
up against the
edge of ones
existence
is this
little
not
it
and
there
language
doesntneed
the spectrum
to be people

Fun picture of me and Kate Damon as reflected in the car below, which was parked outside the Shore Club.

Hanging out at the shipping containers on the beach. Not such good exhibits this year.

Weirdest catcall ever happened on this trip:

I was walking down the main drag Collins Avenue wearing the green sun dress pictured above when I passed a construction site. One of the construction workers got my attention and declared, "You should wear yellow or orange. Not green."

I must have looked aghast because he followed that up with, "You look ok in green. But it's not your color!"

Phenom photographer Hank Willis Thomas, who is currently showing a significant work in the Rubell collection, and Coby Kennedy, who has awesome hair.

Shepard Fairey was in town. Saw several of his pieces around Miami Beach and South Beach but this is the only one I could stop and photograph. A bunch of us went to his party at the Shore Club Friday night, which was fun, but there was something a little unsettling about a party to celebrate street art at an uber expensive and exclusive hotel and also a little unsettling about how strict they were with "the guest list."

New friend.

One of my favorite works of art at the main fair, a sculpture by Richard Dupont. You have to walk around this one to appreciate the strange perspective on it.

Goofing around with Michael Clements outside the Raleigh.

Celebrity sightings in South Beach:

Beyonce and Jay Z
Art Basel

Benicio del Toro
Lunching at the Raleigh

David Lynch

HA! We need the boys in Miami to come teach the hoodlums in D.C. how to holler, at least for greater entertainment.
