Best artist talk ever.
Wangechi Mutu's talk last night at the Hirshhorn was the best artist talk I have ever heard. She spoke seamlessly, passionately, and beautifully about her thoughtful and thought-provoking work. I was especially moved by her ideas about her role in the war in Iraq, meaning we are each a part of the fabric of humanity and therefore we each bear responsibility for everything that happens in our world. (She said it so much better. I'll post the video if it from the Hirshhorn site when they get it up there.) Thank you Henry Thaggert for bringing this artist to DC. Rachel Fick wrote a nice summary of the talk on ArtCade.
