David Byrne is great!

Was excited to meet a great creative mind tonight at the Hemphill opening - David Byrne. I've been following his blog ever since I found out about it at last year's Miami Basel art fair. You probably remember him from Talking Heads - I blasted Stop Making Sense repeatedly in my dorm room to the annoyance of everyone who lived in my building and the next building over. You might not know, however, that Byrne is also a great artist and writer and thinker and performer. Check out his cool show about chairs at Hemphill. This one's called Doggie Chew Toy:

Why chairs? Well, they have arms and legs and vaguely human scale — and shape. They're people — they hold you, support you, elevate you or humble you. They're funny or elegant, funky or gorgeous, social or aloof. They're characters with lives and histories...aren't they?
