Give thanks for derby!

The DC Rollergirls proudly present their Top 5 Tips for Surviving the Holidays:

1) Take your mind off the stress at the DC Armory on Saturday, November 28, where the DC DemonCats and the Cherry Blossom Bombshells will gather around the track to break bread— and each other.

2) Work off some of that Thanksgiving turkey and dressing by cheering for your favorite Rollergirls like Condoleezza Slice, Miso Knotty and HaBitchual OffendHer.

3) Cure Black Friday shopping exhaustion by pulling up a seat alongside the track – with any luck, Santa might come early and deliver a Rollergirl straight to your lap.

4) Force some family bonding by bringing them with you to the bout. We’ll have face-painting for the kids and several beer stands for the “big kids.”

5) Pick up tips on how to make your way through those crowded malls by watching our nimble jammers breeze through packs of angry blockers.

Doors open at 3 p.m., and the action kicks off at 4 p.m. with an exhibition bout between Scare Force One and the Heavy Metal Hookers of Philadelphia. The main bout will feature reigning champions DC DemonCats against the fierce Cherry Blossom Bombshells. The movement artists of Revolutionary Motion and Surprise Hoops will provide show-stopping halftime entertainment.

Tickets are just $12 for ages 12 and up, $6 for children 6 to 11 and free for kids 5 and under. They are available in advance through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) or at the door on bout day. Individuals with a valid military I.D. receive admission for only $10 at the door.

The D.C. Armory is located at 2001 East Capitol Street, SE, in Washington. Secure lot parking is available for $7. In addition, the Armory is adjacent to the Stadium-Armory Metro Station on the Blue and Orange lines.

Can’t get enough Rollergirl action at the bout? Follow the Rollergirls to My Brother’s Place, located at 237 2nd St NW, for the official DC Rollergirls After Party.
