Linda Hesh in New York Times
The New York Times website does a nice slideshow of doorknob hangers created by DC artist Linda Hesh for a public art project last year organized by the Washington Project for the Arts.
What's nice about existential longing is its one-size-fits-all quality -- how universal it is and how elastic it can be. Case in point: Linda Hesh's Desolation Doorknob Hangers, little flags of ambiguous dread or sorrow that began life as a public art project, but can now be purchased to decorate your home inside or out.
